UVOST® or TarGOST®?
At Dakota Technologies, we understand the challenges of using high tech in demanding field conditions. We also understand that reliable identification of PAH-laden petroleum hydrocarbons requires technology designed specifically for the task, which is why we developed the proprietary UVOST and TarGOST technologies. Which technology you should use depends on the chemical properties of the non aqueous phase liquids (NAPL) present at your site.
UVOST®
The UVOST is designed specifically for light non aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL) containing PAHs (source term).
The following PAH-containing, NAPLs are detected in-situ with the UVOST:
-
Petroleum, Oils and Lubricants (POL)
-
Gasoline
-
Diesel Fuel
-
Biodiesel
-
Motor Oil
-
Cutting Fluids
-
Hydraulic Fluid
-
Jet Fuel (Kerosene)
-
UVOST is blind to halogenated DNAPL - unless it was used to degrease PAHs
TarGOST®
The TarGOST is specifically designed for delineating dense non aqueous-phase liquids (DNAPL) found at MGP and creosote sites. TarGOST does not have the detection limits typically observed with the UV-based UVOST on the lighter molecular weight NAPLs; rather, TarGOST focuses solely on mapping higher molecular weight NAPL contamination (LOD = ~100-500 ppm NAPL on soil).
TarGOST has been confirmed to be useful for logging:
-
Coal tar (coking, former manufactured gas plants, etc.)
-
Creosote
-
Crude oil
-
Bunker
-
Heavy distillate
-
Dripolene (olefin plant aromatic byproduct)
-
DEHP/BEHP (some - not all)
-
Biodiesel
